Ingredients

  • 2 pounds round steak
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 2 cups no salt added tomatoes, mashed + 1/4 cup water

Directions

1. Pound meat to tenderize.

2. In a shallow plate combine flour and black pepper.

3. Dredge meat in flour mixture. Save remaining flour mixture.

4. Brown both sides of meat in a skillet in vegetable oil and place in a 4 qt casserole dish.

5. Add onion to skillet and cook until transparent. Add to the casserole dish.

6. Stir in with the meat and onions the remaining flour, oregano, garlic, celery, bell peppers and tomatoes with their liquid and the water.

Be sure meat is covered with liquid. Cover and cook 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
