Ingredients:

  • 1 T. sesame oil
  • 1 c. cabbage, very finely sliced and chopped
  • 2 t. fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 t. minced garlic
  • 2 T. sliced green onion
  • 3 baby/mini carrots, grated
  • 1.5 oz cooked pork, diced or grated
  • 1 package Twin Dragon Gyoza wrappers- Pot stickers (4 wrappers are 75mg sodium)
  • 1 c. oil for frying pockets
  • Optional: low sodium sweet and sour sauce, low sodium soy sauce or hot oil.

Directions:

Using a small saute pan, heat the sesame oil and add the cabbage, ginger, garlic, onion, carrot and pork. Saute for 5-8 minutes, let cool before adding to wrappers..

Dip you finger in a bit of water and rub around the edges of the round wrapper. Place 1 t. filling in center of wrapper. Fold over to make a half moon shape pressing well to seal.

In a medium sauce pan, add the 1 c. oil and heat to 375 degrees. Fry one side of the pockets for 30 seconds and turn to fry the other side for 30 seconds. They fry up very quickly so be sure to watch carefully. Drain on paper towel.

This will make 18 pockets. 522.5mg. sodium for entire recipe using exact ingredients. Each pocket is 29mg sodium.

Nice to add to your meal of a stir fry or Egg Fu Yung or noodle bowl.

Would make a nice snack or appetizer with the addition of one of the sauces listed as options.
