Adapted by Gwen

Ingredients:

  • 9-1/3 ounces (264 grams) milk
  • 5-1/3 ounces (150 grams) water
  • 5 Tablespoons shortening
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt (leave out or use 1/8 tsp total for lower sodium)
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 3 teaspoons yeast

Directions:

Put ingredients into bread machine pan in order recommended for your machine. Start machine on Dough Cycle.

When cycle is finished, remove, cover with greased bowl and let rest 15 minutes.

Divide into 24 equal pieces and form into the shape of roll you prefer. I just put them in muffin tins.

You can do cloverleaf or just plain round ones very easily

Bake at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.

These are the rolls that I have been making for about 30 years for all of our holiday meals.

I use lactose free milk in them, have used Egg Beaters and sugar substitute and they always come out great.
