Ingredients
- 1 pkg dry yeast
- 1 t. sugar
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. plus 2 T. flour
- 2 t. oil (plus extra to oil pan)
- corn meal
Directions
Mix yeast, sugar and warm water and let stand for 10 minutes.
To your food processor, using a blade. add the flour and keep it running.
Add the yeast mixture and process for 45 seconds.
Add the oil and process for 60 seconds or until dough pulls away from bowl.
Roll dough into any shape you want.
Oil pizza pan, and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Place dough on pan and bake 6 minutes at 400 degrees. This first bake insures a crispy crust.
Remove from oven and top with favorite loso toppings.
Return to oven for about 18 minutes.
Makes one 14 inch crust or 2 nine inch ones.
Crust will be thin and crispy.
You might top your crust with a bit of garlic olive oil, thin slices of fresh tomato, thin slices of fresh mozzarella, a bit of fresh garlic, and then fresh basil. When pizza come out of the oven, add a dash of balsamic vinegar if you wish.
Another idea is to top the pizza with a bit of no salt pizza sauce and very thinly sliced veggies- onion, yellow squash, zucchini, mushrooms, tomato, etc. Sprinkle some fresh mozzarella all over and add fresh basil and bake.
Can the pizza crust be made by hand, since I have no food processor? If not, will my KitchenAid with dough hook work?
I have the same question as Phyllis, I don’t have a food processor., will my Kitchenaid with dough hook work? I want to make pizza tonight?
And how much corn meal is used. Wish the poster would answer.
Cornmeal is used to roll out your dough, sprinkle a little on counter to help dough from sticking
I made this today. I made it by hand rather than use the food processor. Turned out perfect. Next time I will 1/2 the recipe to have a bit smaller and thinner crust. It was delicious. My new go to.
Thank you!
Dough freezes well for months
