Seasoned Pasta and Rice Side Dish

Ingredients

  • 2 T. unsalted butter
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 2 oz angel hair pasta, broken into small pieces
  • 1/2 sweet onion, diced
  • 1/2 c. low sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 T. Herb Ox no salt Chicken Bouillon
  • 1/2 t. Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 t. dried parsley
  • 1/2 t. 21 Seasoning Salute
  • 1 1/2 c. cooked rice (if using leftover rice, it should be at room temperature)
    Sliced, toasted almonds for garnish

Directions

Heat butter and oil in large saucepan. Add the pasta and onion and saute until both are a light, toasty brown.

Add chicken broth, water, bouillon, seasoning, parsley, 21 Seasoning and cook on low for 10 minutes.

Add the cooked rice, bring heat up and cook about 10 minutes or until all liquid is gone. Top with sliced almonds.

Makes 4 servings.

Calculate sodium from the broth used.
