Grandma’s Spicy Pear Butter

Ingredients

  • 6 pears, beginning to get softened
  • 1/4 t. nutmeg
  • 1/4 t. allspice
  • 1/2 t.cinnamon
  • 2-3 T. brown sugar
  • 1 t. orange zest
  • 1 t. fresh lemon juice

Directions

Peel,core and chop the pears.

Place all ingredients in a small slow cooker. Cook 3/12 hours on High.

Take off the cover and carefully use an immersion blender to blend the juice with the pieces of pears to incorporate and turn the mixture a lovely brown.

This should take about an hour. Using a regular blender may be very dangerous as the mixture is very hot.

Cook with top off until the mixture thickens and becomes a lovely brown.

Serve with pork- chops, roast or tenderloin. Also can be used a spread on muffins, and quick breads.
